Internally this will be titled as QA Engineer III - VAL Game Analysis Team (GAT).  You will work with a team of game Analysis Team members and designers to create value for players around the world. You will own the process of testing gameplay experiences for VALORANT. You will work with all stages of development and create objective analysis that guides a variety of design decisions. You will help build our understanding of how players will best utilize upcoming content and identify when a design is being used in a destructive way, preventing players from experiencing that pain. You will work directly with designers and GAT members to plan, evaluate, and participate in playtests. You will work on a team with passionate gamers that love theorycrafting, discussing, and solving multiplayer jyhwang.com will partner with your team to develop more efficient solutions to everyday problems and enhance the delivery of GAT’s validation testing of design inputs. As a QA Engineer you will report to a QA Supervisor or QA Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to set what good looks like and guide validation testing on VALORANT while monitoring execution.
  • Assesses and improves team processes, testing, methodology, and reporting.
  • Work with GAT members to assist in setting up methods to evaluate design inputs in playtests.
  • Analyze new and updated game content developed by the design team and guide the VAL GAT team in assessing the long-term impact on the game meta.
  • Understand and set playtesting objectives for the game analysis team on VALORANT by collaborating with design and other GAT members.
  • Consults with cross-disciplinary teams throughout VALORANT to identify opportunities where GAT can provide validation support.
  • Create and maintain SLAs with cross-disciplinary partners to establish clear guidelines for collaborating with GAT
  • Apply VALORANT game sense, meta knowledge, and analytical experience to help the team meet playtesting objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and executing playtesting events or comparable experience
  • Experience working embedded with developers and content creators
  • Experience creating custom reports on game and design analysis 
  • Ability to analyze team performance and guide the team to consistently achieve high-level play
  • Deep knowledge of the VALORANT gameplay and player experience
  • 6+ years of game or design analysis, with success leading testing and analysis efforts on a team
  • Can provide professional references online

Desired Qualifications:

  • Has been Radiant in VALORANT’s game lifetime
  • 3+ years of experience in pro level play for competitive shooters, whether as a player, coach, or analyst
  • 1+ years of experience coaching or being an analyst on a VALORANT team at a pro or near-pro level (VCT International League, Challengers, Game Changers)
  • 1+ years Software Quality Assurance experience
  • Ability to check player pulse and identify root cause for player enjoyment and frustration

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $127,300.00 - $179,000.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
